Project Manager

The Project Manager works in collaboration with the Director of Operations, the VPs of Design, and the design teams to guide the project process and budget through all phases. The role requires organization and the ability to anticipate and plan for project related contingencies for both the internal CSD process as well as with partners and clients. Critical to success is the ability to plan, organize, manage and audit all phases of production thereby ensuring that design works are delivered efficiently, effectively, profitability and to the highest quality standard.

Primary Job Functions:

  • In coordination with the Director of Operations and the VPs of Design, support and help manage multiple simultaneous projects through all phases of design, ensuring that all parties are communicating to avoid project pitfalls
  • Scheduling and tracking of CSD project process and deliverables, both internally and as it relates to partners to ensure all project milestones are met
  • Oversee the creation of the design development documents: managing the drafting team, providing redlines, and acting as the intermediary to identify and address any design intent questions as they arise
  • Manage the project pricing process from initial Range of Magnitude through final leveled bids by creating or assisting in the creation of Bid Sheets, AV Lists, Furniture Lists, and Graphic Inventories
  • Oversee coordination and communication between contractors, fabricators, lighting consultants, integrators, and other project team members
  • Provide input and recommendations to creatively overcome technical challenges, reduce costs, and improve quality as an essential part of the collaboration between the internal team, the client, and with fabricators
  • Oversee in-shop construction, on-site load-ins and commissioning while maintaining the project’s design intent
  • Assist in the overall company profitability through efficiencies and effective teamwork
  • Provide leadership and mentoring of interns
  • Encourage and participate in a “just ask if you don’t know” approach to problem prevention
  • Follow studio policies and procedures while upholding high professional standards
  • Maintain relationships with consultants, contractors, and vendors while also evaluating their performance

Secondary Job Functions:

  • Assist in the creation of job folders, preliminary production schedules, and preliminary project budget sheets; updating these documents throughout projects as needed
  • Assist in gathering information from clients to facilitate concept development
  • Assist in monitoring client requests against Scope of Work, identifying differences, and assist in preparing Change Order requests
  • Assist in the sourcing, research, ordering, and tracking of project furniture and prop items, coordinating closely with the client team as needed
  • Assist the design team in maintaining and organizing project folders throughout the process, to minimize folder size where possible

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Exceptional time management skills and a superior ability to multitask across overlapping projects at varying phases of development
  • Ability to represent CSD professionally to clients, vendors, and partners, both in person and through all modes of communication
  • Ability to read building plans, redline drafting, and read construction documents
  • Understanding of fabrication and material methodology appropriate for broadcast applications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Working understanding of AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat, and InDesign
  • Ability to open 3D software and navigate for understanding
